The Song Room
The Song Room is a national not-for-profit organisation that partners with schools across the country to deliver high quality arts learning programs with the aim of leveling the learning playing field through increased engagement and a wide range of social, emotional and academic outcomes.
Since early 2016 I have taken on the role of Regional Program Coordinator for Queensland, overseeing the delivery of in-school programs across Brisbane by working as a mentor and liaison for our teaching artists and school communities. The role also provides opportunities to deliver community projects in partnership with school communities, such as those outlined below.
HIVE MIND
Murri School (2017), Milpera SHS (2018), Caboolture Montessori School (2018)
Part sculpture, part sound installation, this project is about exploring the thoughts whispered deep in our minds through a combination of high tech touch sensitive components and hands on wire sculpture workshops. Hive mind is an ongoing community driven installation and research project. Find out more here.
POSTCARD PROJECT
Harrisfield State School, Woodridge, Brisbane (2016)
A series of watercolour workshops for parents, carers and friends to make postcards that tell stories of place, culminating in an exhibition at the Logan Library.
